Types of Back Pain that Acupuncture Can Treat

What Is Acupuncture Anyway?
|This is an ancient Chinese art of medicine that originated more than 5,000 years ago. It is founded on the concept of qi, which is supposedly a vital source of energy that every living being consists of. In the human body, qi travels through 12 different invisible energy lines or pathways called meridians.
Each of these meridians represents a particular organ system. According to acupuncturists, diseases, disorders, and common pains and aches result from an unbalanced flow of qi in at least one of these meridians.
In order to redirect the flow and redress the balance of qi, acupuncturists use special needles which are then inserted in strategic areas of the body. These areas are actually a map of the human body consisting of more than 1,000 acupuncture points.
Since 1997, the FDA had already classified acupuncture needles as a "medical" device. Originally, it was only deemed an "experimental" device. This change only signifies how even traditional medical practitioners have come to respect the effectiveness of acupuncture not just for lower back pain relief but for other conditions as well.
